If you looking to protect your premises and possessions from water heater leak
damage, immunize yourself from future hot water tank flooding, or just eliminate
your worry about water heater flood damage, FloodMaster provides you a once-in-a-lifetime
solution to water heater flooding problems.
About
FloodMaster
Become immune from hot water tank flooding. Over 7 million residential
water heaters in the U.S. fail each year. When your water heater fails due to
end-of-life, you may suffer a water heater shutdown, a leak, a flood, or a continuous
flow of water from your cold-water intake through a hole in your water heater
into your premises. Failures of water heaters may cause up to $5,000 (or more)
in damage to homeowners’ premises and possessions.
The #1 Most Common Residential Water Heater
Mistake…
(You're Probably About To Make It Now)
You think your (new/old) water heater will last
for many years in continuous service, right? Well… more than 29.7 % of all water
heaters in the United States fail before they’re 9 years old. By age 14, over
69% of U.S. Water heaters have failed. In 2003, an estimated 7,554,400 water heaters
were replaced (or “retire”) due to failures – or “end-of-life”.
What If You’re Not Home When Your Water Heater
Reaches Retirement Age?
When your water heater fails due to end-of-life,
you may suffer a water heater shutdown, a leak, a flood, or a continuous flow
of water from your cold-water intake through a hole in your water heater into
your premises. Failures of water heaters may cause up to $5,000 (or more) in damage
to homeowners’ premises and possessions.
What Nobody Ever Tells
You About Water Heaters:
- If you’re not home when your water heater leaks, your main
water incoming pipe will provide continuous water to the ongoing flood in your
premises
- When you purchase a water heater, be prepared for the possibility that within
9 – 14 years, the time when 30% - 70% of all water heaters fail, you will suffer
a water heater leak or flood.
The result may be that your possessions may be
damaged, perhaps beyond repair; your clean up costs may exceed the value of any
damaged possessions; and the time you need to devote to the clean-up project may
exceed your expectation.

Make the purchase of a FloodMaster Flood Control
Valve, a once-in-a-lifetime experience, a cost-effective expenditure (potentially
equal to 27 times its cost –or more) that provides peace-of-mind knowing the FloodMaster
unit is working 24/7.
Frequently Asked Questions about
FloodMaster
What is the warranty of the FloodMaster
unit?
- The FloodMaster valve has a lifetime limited warranty that states, in part:
The FloodMaster products shall be free from defects in material and workmanship.
In the event of a defect in material or workmanship in a Floodmaster Product,
Floodmaster will replace the same, f.o.b. point of shipment. FLOODMASTERThe FloodMaster

If the FloodMaster
Unit detects a leak in a water heater and shuts off the cold water intake to the
water heater, what will happen to the water inside the tank? Will it leak out
or stay in the tank?
- The water inside the tank may stay there (inside the tank) if a sufficient
vacuum has been set up in the system. The worst-case is that the water inside
the tank will leak out, but no more water will enter the tank since the FloodMaster
valve is closed. The maximum amount of water that will leak out into the premises
is, therefore, the maximum capacity of the tank itself. This is better, however,
than a continuing flow of water from the intake cold water line through the malfunctioning
water heater tank into the premises (in the absence of a FloodMaster valve), especially
if the occupants of the premises are not on-site and water flows freely for an
extended length of time.
How long does it take to install the
FloodMaster valve?
- If a FloodMaster valve is installed simultaneously with the replacement of
a water heater, the installation time for the FloodMaster unit may take no longer
than the time it would take to replace the water heater by itself. If a FloodMaster
unit is being added on to an existing, installed water heater as would be the
case in a retrofit, then the installation time would necessarily include the time
it would take to de-install the water heater.
Can I reuse the FloodMaster unit on my
new water heater when my existing one reaches its end of life?
What happens if water builds up in the
pan from a water source not associated with the water heater and the FloodMaster
float sensor activates the FloodMaster valve?
- Once the FloodMaster valve is activated, the cold-water intake to the water
heater is shut off. In the absence of a leak in the water heater, there will be
no hot water flowing to the rest of the premises. ThatOnce the FloodMaster valve

Does the FloodMaster unit need any regular
maintenance?
- No regular maintenance is necessary. The homeowner may wish to periodically
test the FloodMaster unit, however. To do so, just raise the float switch sensor
in the pan with your thumb and forefinger until the magnetic latch engages. This
energizes the FloodMaster valve shutting off the cold-water intake to the water
heater. Turn on a hot water faucet elsewhere in the house to verify that the hot
water is not flowing. Once verified, the float switch sensor may then be moved
back to its de-energized position No regular maintenance is necessary. The homeowner

Does FloodMaster provide a pan with the
FloodMaster unit?
- Pans are not provided by FloodMaster, however they should be readily available
through your plumbing contractor.
Is there any restriction as to the fuel
used by the water heater unit when installing a FloodMaster valve?
- There are no such restrictions.
